Addiction Counselling Calgary

What Is Addiction Counselling?

Addiction counselling is professional, evidence-based therapy that helps you make sense of your relationship with substances or compulsive behaviours and build a real, lasting path forward. It's not about willpower or hitting rock bottom. It's about understanding what's driving the pattern and developing the tools to change it.

At Supporting Wellness in Calgary, our addiction therapists work from a place of genuine care. We know that addiction is complex, shaped by trauma, mental health, environment, relationships, and biology. That's why we take the time to understand your full story before we talk about solutions.

Whether you're dealing with alcohol use, drug dependency, prescription misuse, or a behavioural addiction, addictions counselling offers a safe, confidential space to work through it without shame and without judgment.

For many Calgary residents, counselling is the single most effective step they take toward recovery. It's where insight becomes action, and action becomes change.

Change Is Possible With Supporting Wellness

Types of Addiction We Treat in Calgary

Our Calgary addiction counsellors support individuals across a broad spectrum of substance use and compulsive behaviours. Whatever you're facing, we have the experience to help.

Alcohol Addiction Counselling
Alcohol is the most common addiction in Canada and one of the most misunderstood. Our Calgary therapists help you explore the emotional and situational triggers behind your drinking, set meaningful goals, and create a sustainable plan, whether that's sobriety, harm reduction, or something in between.

Drug & Substance Abuse Counselling
From cannabis and opioids to stimulants and prescription medications, our substance abuse counselling in Calgary is tailored to your specific situation. We don't take a one-size-fits-all approach. Your treatment plan reflects your life, your history, and your goals.

Gambling Addiction Counselling
Compulsive gambling can quietly unravel finances, relationships, and self-esteem. Our therapists help you understand what's underneath the urge to gamble and develop healthier ways to manage risk, excitement, and stress.

Behavioural & Process Addictions
Social media, pornography, gaming, shopping, food. Behavioural addictions are just as real as substance-based ones. If a behaviour is causing distress or interfering with your daily life, our Calgary counsellors can help.

Family & Loved One Support
Addiction affects everyone in its orbit. We work with partners, parents, adult children, and other family members who are trying to navigate a loved one's addiction, offering both practical tools and emotional support, including co-dependency counselling.

Dual Diagnosis & Co-Occurring Disorders
Addiction and mental health rarely travel alone. If you're dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, or another mental health challenge alongside addiction, our Calgary therapists are trained to address both at the same time rather than treating them in isolation.
