At Supporting Wellness, we recognize the deep and complex challenges faced by First Nations communities. Indigenous individuals often navigate a wide array of systemic issues. These include racism, discrimination, loss of culture, neglect, abuse, addiction, fetal alcohol syndrome, and deep-rooted trauma.
Understanding the profound impact of displacement from traditional lands and ways of life forms a vital foundation of our counselling programs in Cold Lake. Our dedicated counsellors place Indigenous relations and cultural sensitivity at the very forefront of their practice, ensuring you have a safe, welcoming space to heal and grow.
Every therapist on our Cold Lake team engages in ongoing sensitivity training to achieve a deep, respectful understanding of each First Nations client's unique experiences. We know that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process.
We remain deeply aware of the devastating cultural and personal impacts that residential schools have had on Indigenous groups across Canada. Our Cold Lake trauma and PTSD counsellors offer practical tools and highly compassionate care to help you work through the most challenging parts of this history. We are here to listen, validate your experiences, and walk alongside you on your healing journey.
If it’s your first time coming to Supporting Wellness, give us a call so that we can identify the best therapist for your situation. If you know the person you would like to speak with, you can give us a call or book an appointment through their online portal.
The number of sessions we recommend changes with each individual. We can advise a certain number of sessions during the initial consultation, but the number may change as the sessions progress.
A 50-minute session is $235 with a psychologist and $220 with a Canadian Certified Counsellor. Fees are the same at our Calgary, Red Deer and Cold Lake clinics, and couples sessions cost the same as a regular 50-minute session. Some clinicians charge less or offer a sliding scale, so call us to talk about your needs and we will help you find someone who fits your goals and budget. Assessments are priced separately because they involve more than one session, so contact us for a quote. You can also view the recommended fee schedule set by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.
We accept credit card, e-transfer, cash, and debit.
Payment is made at the end of each session and you will be provided with a receipt to submit for reimbursement from your insurance provider.
Depending on your current health insurance provider, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify what your coverage is for psychological services.
When a session is booked, that time has been reserved for you. If you are unable to attend, please cancel 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged for the full rate of the session.
We also offer Indigenous counselling at our Calgary and Red Deer clinics. If either is closer to you, you can book there instead.
