Addiction Counselling Cold Lake

What Is Addiction Counselling?

Addiction counselling is professional, evidence-based therapy that helps you understand the patterns behind substance use or compulsive behaviours and develop the tools to change them. It's not about lectures or willpower. It's about getting to the root of what's happening and building a real path forward.

At Supporting Wellness in Cold Lake, our therapists know that addiction rarely exists in a vacuum. It's often connected to stress, trauma, loss, isolation, chronic pain, or difficult life transitions. In a community like Cold Lake, where many people carry the weight of demanding careers, long deployments, or rural isolation, those pressures are very real.

Our approach to addictions counselling is built on listening first. We take time to understand your full story before we talk about solutions. And because every person's relationship with addiction is different, every treatment plan we build is different too.

Change Is Possible With Supporting Wellness.

Types of Addiction We Treat in Cold Lake

Our Cold Lake counsellors support individuals and families dealing with a wide range of addictions and substance use concerns. Whatever you're facing, you'll find experienced, compassionate support here.

Alcohol Addiction Counselling
Alcohol is the most commonly misused substance in Canada, and Cold Lake is no exception. Whether drinking has become a way to cope with stress, loneliness, or trauma, or has simply gotten out of hand over time, our therapists can help you understand your relationship with alcohol and find a healthier way forward.

Drug & Substance Abuse Counselling
From cannabis and opioids to stimulants and prescription medications, our substance abuse counselling in Cold Lake is built around your specific situation. We work with you to understand what's driving the use and what recovery looks like for you, without judgment.

Alcohol & Substance Use in the Military Community
We understand the unique pressures faced by active military personnel, veterans, and their families at 4 Wing Cold Lake and across the Canadian Armed Forces. Addiction in this context is often tied to operational stress, PTSD, moral injury, and the challenges of reintegration. Our therapists have specific experience supporting this community with care, discretion, and respect.

Gambling Addiction Counselling
Compulsive gambling can erode finances and relationships in ways that often go unrecognized for years. Our counsellors help you identify what's underneath the urge to gamble and develop healthier coping strategies.

Behavioural & Process Addictions
Whether it's social media, gaming, pornography, or another compulsive pattern, behavioural addictions are real and deserve serious, compassionate support. Our Cold Lake therapists provide evidence-based counselling for the full spectrum of compulsive behaviours.

Family & Loved One Support
Addiction affects the people around it just as much as the person living it. We offer counselling for partners, parents, and other family members who are navigating a loved one's addiction, including support for co-dependency and setting healthy boundaries.

Dual Diagnosis & Co-Occurring Disorders
Many people dealing with addiction also live with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or trauma. Our Cold Lake therapists are trained to work with both at the same time, because treating one without the other rarely leads to lasting change.
