Wilson

  Therapy Dog

Languages Spoken: English

Wilson is not your average therapy dog. He is part calming presence, part emotional support specialist, part professional cuddle expert, and fully committed to making hard days a little easier. Living and working alongside our provisional psychologist Gillian Goheen, Wilson has a natural ability to help people feel safe, grounded, and welcomed from the moment they walk through the door.

Highly trained through Summit Service Dogs, Wilson is a certified facility support dog with specialized training to assist individuals experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, autism, and other mental health challenges. His calm temperament, intuitive nature, and advanced training allow him to support clients both within the counselling office and out in community or public settings when additional support may be helpful.

Wilson has a remarkable ability to connect with people in ways that often make therapy feel more comfortable and emotionally safe. Whether he is quietly leaning against someone during a difficult moment, helping reduce anxiety through grounding and deep pressure support, or simply offering steady companionship, his presence can help clients feel more regulated and at ease. Many children, teens, adults, veterans, first responders, and neurodivergent clients quickly discover that Wilson has a way of making even the hardest days feel a little lighter.

While Wilson primarily works alongside Gillian, he is also available to support sessions with other therapists within the practice upon request. Although professionally trained and highly skilled in his role, Wilson still believes his greatest contribution to the team may be accepting treats and belly rubs and reminding people that healing does not always begin with words.
