One of the most remarkable aspects of my job is being able to witness how in
each story of hardship, pain, and difficulty, there is also an amazing story about strength, survival and resiliency. Although honoring those stories of suffering is part of the healing process, a big part of my work is also empowering my clients to believe in themselves and their inner strength.
Working together, we can develop strategies to help you tap into that inner strength in order to better cope with the challenges that come up in life.
I also see many issues as stemming from people’s connection and/or
disconnection with others. Therefore, through therapy we examine how patterns of relating to others can either be a strength for you, or whether they are getting in the way of your functioning. We then work on developing strategies to help you change those patterns.
I provide individual counselling to adults and couples with a variety of concerns. I am especially passionate about working with individuals dealing with anxiety, developmental trauma, relationship issues, ADHD, immigration and acculturation issues, school success issues, and life transitions. I define my approach to therapy as adaptive and trauma-informed. This means that I adapt my approach to match each client’s area of concern, but I mainly draw from modalities such as Brain spotting, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Attachment Theory. I particularly enjoy incorporating spirituality or spiritual practices in therapy if/when this is meaningful to my clients. I am fluent in both English and Spanish. I am available at both the Calgary and Red Deer locations, and my schedule includes weekday evenings and daytime appointments, which can be either in person or virtual.
I look forward to meeting you and helping on your journey towards healing.
