Kathryn Claessens-Patrino Registered Psychologist
Anxiety / Depression / Individual / Marriage & Couple / Online & VideoKathryn Claessens-Patrino is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists who is exceptionally passionate about her work and wants to help you explore your life and experiences in a safe and comfortable environment.
Kathryn believes that the therapeutic relationship is key and knows that therapy can be intimidating. She hopes that her genuine nature will make the process feel natural and safe (humour and cursing are welcome). Her goal is to help you recognize your strengths and expand your perspective as the foundation for developing better habits and ways of navigating the complexities of life.
To do this, Kathryn will support you to understand your mind, process past experiences, learn to meet your needs while staying true to yourself, develop self-compassion, and learn skills you might need along the way. For couples, she strives to help you feel teammates in life by developing a safe and supportive bond, addressing recurring patterns or problems, and improving your overall emotional and physical connection.
Kathryn enjoys working with adults and couples on a variety of issues. However, her core interests and competencies involve working with men’s issues and mental health, relationship challenges, personal growth and development, and difficulties with emotional regulation (i.e. anxiety, depression, overthinking.)
Kathryn knows that you are unique and bring your own strengths and challenges, so your treatment plan will reflect your personal needs and wants. She practices from a feminist and trauma-informed approach and primarily draws upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method.
Kathryn offers both online and in-person services (Calgary-based), and has both daytime and evening availability.
