Change Is Possible
NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback®
At Supporting Wellness Psychological and Family Services, we offer Dynamical Neurofeedback® with NeurOptimal® as part of our integrative wellness services. This advanced brain training technology promotes greater emotional flexibility, mental clarity, and personal resilience. NeurOptimal® is non-invasive, drug-free, and designed for ease of use—making it a unique addition to your wellness routine.
Used worldwide with over four million sessions completed, NeurOptimal® is classified in Canada as a consumer wellness device. It is not a medical or therapeutic product and is not used at our clinic to diagnose or treat any condition. Instead, we offer it as a self-directed tool for clients seeking new approaches to mental performance, balance, and well-being.
A Wellness Tool Offered in a Clinical Setting
At Supporting Wellness, we are a team of therapists offering NeurOptimal® as a non-clinical wellness modality. In accordance with Health Canada regulations, Dynamical Neurofeedback® is not a medical treatment and does not replace therapy or psychological assessment. It does not involve brainwave manipulation, protocols, or diagnosis.
NeurOptimal® is available as an optional complement to individual therapy, supporting clients who want to explore additional self-regulation strategies within their wellness plan. While we are not certified under BCIA, this is because NeurOptimal® does not require BCIA certification. It does not involve manipulating brainwaves or pescribing protocols—instead, the system provides information, and your own brain makes the adjustments in real time.
A Non-Verbal Wellness Option for Trauma Survivors
Some clients at Supporting Wellness choose NeurOptimal® as a non-verbal wellness tool, particularly when talk therapy feels overwhelming or emotionally difficult. Individuals who have experienced trauma sometimes seek alternative or supplemental methods to support their wellness journey.
While NeurOptimal® is not used to treat trauma, it is offered as a self-directed, non-invasive approach that may help clients develop emotional awareness, adaptability, and inner calm. This technology is one of several wellness options available for those exploring different ways to engage in personal growth.
How Dynamical Neurofeedback® Works
NeurOptimal® functions by monitoring your brain’s electrical activity 256 times per second. When the system detects that the brain is about to shift, it creates a brief interruption in the music or visual stream you’re observing. These momentary pauses act like a mirror, helping the brain become more aware of its own behavior.
Unlike clinical neurofeedback systems, NeurOptimal® does not diagnose or guide your brain in any particular direction. There are no protocols or goals. The brain does the work by responding to the information it receives.
What to Expect During a Session
A typical NeurOptimal® session is calm, passive, and effortless. While you sit comfortably, small sensors are placed on your scalp and ears. You simply watch relaxing visuals and listen to music while the system provides real-time feedback. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes and does not require focus, cognitive effort, or conscious processing. Many clients describe the experience as peaceful and grounding.
At Supporting Wellness, sessions are facilitated by a registered psychologist. Before the session begins, your therapist will briefly check in to monitor any changes since your last visit and review your overall treatment plan. Following the session, the psychologist will meet with you to discuss how the session felt, answer any questions, and offer guidance on next steps. This may include discussing personal goals, emotional regulation strategies, or wellness tools such as meditation, bilateral music, biofrequency training, or other supportive practices tailored to your individual needs.
While NeurOptimal® itself is a self-directed brain training system and not a clinical treatment, we recognize the importance of integrating wellness tools within the broader therapeutic process when appropriate.
