Angela Lockert is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a focus in Child and Youth Mental Health.
She grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan and obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 2006.
Angela has worked in mental health for the last 16 years in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Alberta. She has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in the emergency department, in-patient treatment, out-patient mental health, and community clinics.
She moved to Calgary in 2009 and obtained her Masters in Nursing through the University of Calgary in 2013 with a focus in child and youth mental health, and went on to complete her post Masters Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Diploma through the University of Toronto in 2015 with a focus in child and youth mental health. She also is certified as a psychiatric mental health nurse (CPMHN) from the Canadian Nurses Association.
Angela is extremely passionate about mental health and believes it is imperative to promote mental health, decrease the stigma of mental illness, as well as improve access to treatment.
As a Nurse Practitioner, she is able to provide a comprehensive psychiatric assessment, provide a diagnosis (if applicable), and prescribe medications (if applicable). She has training in CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioural therapy), motivational interviewing, and solution focused therapy.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family/friends, going to the gym, walking her dog, reading, and shopping.
She lives in Calgary with her husband, two children, a cat, and a dog.
